Leverage digital transformation initiatives
Don’t look at observability in a silo: You can make progress there while taking other steps to make your organization more agile.
Other digital transformation initiatives, like increasing user experience staff or changing your product management practice, can help you move observability forward. For example, if you hire a new user researcher, consider cross-training them on a few system monitoring tools. If product managers are expanding their roles, make sure you explicitly list observability responsibilities.
Make observability features a functional requirement, not a “nice-to-have” feature, of new tools and platforms. Show the business value of observability capabilities to secure appropriate funding. As another example, when looking at analytics platforms, make sure they support open standards for telemetry data.
